WE TRAIN & EMPOWER YOUNG FOLKS TO RUN EDUCATIONAL FARMS at Summer camps, ROOTED IN JEWISH AGRICULTURAL WISDOM.

WHAT WE DO

Amir interviews exceptional young adults to identify the candidate(s) who will be best suited to each camps’ needs. Partner camps will have the opportunity to interview Amir’s suggested Farmer(s) and make the final decision on their hires. Farmers become integrated employees working for the camp.

Amir’s greatest expertise lies in training young adults to be outstanding Jewish garden educators. Through our week-long training program, and curriculum developed by experienced Jewish agricultural educators, our Farmers come prepared to build beautiful gardens and run impactful programming that helps nurture campers’ relationship to land and food.

Our experienced team works with camp leadership to ensure that their full vision for the garden comes to life, from crop ordering through program design and implementation. We maintain detailed information about your camp’s garden, enabling the program to improve each year. Each Farmer is matched with a Mentor for weekly check-ins throughout the summer.

Amir Farms are beautiful spaces that hold special places in the hearts of campers and staff. Let us know if you’d like to speak to one of our partner camps’ Directors to hear how the farm has enriched their community.

COMMUNITY

Amir’s garden and farm projects are spaces of community-building. Many campers find Amir Farms to be a peaceful refuge from the hustle and bustle of camp life, and seek Earth-based connections with other campers and staff there.  Through rootedness in Jewish agricultural wisdom, we strive to build spaces that nourish the greater summer camp environment with practices of inclusion and justice, and our Farmers bring that energy to our partner camps.

WHY WE DO IT:

EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION

At Amir, we believe that learning should be active. We empower youth by feeding curiosity and encouraging creativity. These values strengthen the communities we serve, helping to build a culture of learning, playfulness, and support.. Amir’s curriculum facilitates opportunities for campers to have joyous experiences while learning with their bodies, their hearts, and their minds.

EARTH-BASED JUDAISM

Amir’s Jewish educational farms are spaces for deep learning around the agricultural roots of so many Jewish values, practices, and customs. Amir’s curriculum and training provides Farmers the skills to make camp gardens into classrooms for Jewish experiential education! Amir is part of a rich, interconnected ecosystem of earth-based Jewish education. Through our years of experience and relationships with others in this field, we are able to bring the best of Jewish garden education to life at camp.
